The art of gift giving fulfills a part of me that I can’t quite put my finger on. The audible gasp of excitement that comes after a dear friend rips away tissue paper practically gives me the ability to fly. Maybe it’s my natural urge to nurture and provide. Maybe it’s the not-so-everyday specialness that comes with festivity. Maybe it’s the fact that I am deeply materialistic and can justify my spending habits when it isn’t for myself.
Regardless of the reason, there is nothing like watching someone open a shiny bag full of goodies specially crafted for them. With Christmas around the corner, I’ve crafted six gift guides to take away some of the heavy lifting of spoiling the special people in your life. Cheers to making the people around us feel seen, heard, and positively cherished!
A Gift Guide For The Athlete
- Leggings & Joggers
Leggings and joggers are a staple in any athlete’s wardrobe. From what I understand even as a beginner runner, those who are active daily are perpetually out of things to wear when getting ready to go work out. Lessen the burden on your athlete by getting them these highly rated, affordable leggings and/or joggers from Amazon!
- Criss Cross Ponytail Hat
As a high-pony gal, ponytail hats have been a GAME CHANGER. I used to hate wearing ball caps because I would either have to wear my hair down and feel my hair touch the back of my neck (ick!), or I would have to wear a low ponytail and feel like founding father (double ick!). Save your high-pony-wearing athlete from this dilemma with this Criss Cross Ponytail Hat that gives them the best of both worlds.
- Travel Massage Gun
It not what it looks like (hehe). If your athlete is always on the go, this travel-sized massage gun could be the key that keeps them feeling loose and ready to perform no matter where they are. With five speed levels and four different attachments, this pocket-sized gift will be well-appreciated!
- Slip-On Trainers (Women’s & Men’s)
Athletes are not always training or competing. Allow your sporty friend to save their performance shoes for what they are made for and gift them these everyday slip-on trainers. They are lightweight, stylish, and go with practically anything.
- Lightweight or Thermal Outdoor Jackets
Another practical gift for your beloved fitness fiend is outerwear fit for all types of weather to keep your athlete warm and safe. Both lightweight and thermal jackets featured above come in bright colors guaranteeing they will be seen on the road in the morning or late at night.
- Yoga Mat with Carrying Strap
I heard cross-training is important, so I signed up for some weekly yoga classes to keep myself semi-injury-free while I figure out how to run properly. Even though my class is only two blocks aways (cheers to living in a city), keeping a yoga mat tucked under my armpit in hopes it wouldn’t unfurl until I wished it to was harder than I anticipated. Save your athlete this minor inconvenience by buying them a yoga mat with a carrying strap!
- Running Shorts (Women’s & Men’s)
The women’s running shorts are my favorite! They are incredible light and high-waisted which makes pairing them with a just sports bra during the summer months ideal. One thing to note is these shorts only have one small pocket, so unless you run with an additional pack, you may be out of luck if you’re trying to hold onto your phone, keys, and pepper spray. Thankfully, I am one of those fanny-pack-wearing people, so I can give my full endorsement with confidence!
- Shokz Open-Ear Headphones
I don’t go anywhere without my Shokz headphones. They have been one of the best investments I have made in my running journey. Open-ear headphones give me peace of mind when running outside because I can still hear what is going on around me without sacrificing my ability to dive into my audiobooks. They are a bit on the pricier side, but I promise your runner will love them!
- Owala Water Bottle
Stanley who? Owala has become a cult favorite as an affordable, functional alternative for the fitness guru. The colors are hilariously diverse and bold enough so you can’t lose them among the neutrality of other bottles. I have an Owala in the Summer Sweetness variety, and–trust me–there’s no mistaking it for anyone else’s. In summary, I love my Owala.
- Gym Bag with Shoe Compartment
If your athlete is anything like me, I really hate when I pack my bags (gym, travel, or otherwise) knowing my shoes will be touching my clothes. Instead of having a bunch of dedicated shoe bags lying around, gift your athlete a gym bag that has a shoe compartment built in. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius, and I wish I thought of it myself!
Cheers!
