The fragrance of budding blooms are in the air. The birds are chirping. The sun is peaking its shy head out from behind the dusty clouds of winter. It is spring, and I bet your home is still in hibernation. In this Spring Home Decor Guide, you will find five key pillars to taking your home out of its cozy slumber into the playful awakening of the new season.
Nothing screams “light and airy” like lace and linen. Their natural textures and willingness to let light through welcomes the brightness of spring with enthusiasm. Incorporating laces and linens in your home during springtime provides a neutral backdrop to the beautiful blooms and bright pastels that make the season special.
If you say the first thing that comes to mind is anything but “flowers” when you think of this season, then you may need to reevaluate your springtime priorities. To the rest of us who do, use this natural instinct as a good excuse to fill your home with as many bouquets as possible. Real stems are always preferred, but if cost and/or longevity is an issue, then there are some incredible faux options out there!
Flowers should not be contained to vases. I find joy incorporating flowers into wreaths, potpourri, and a variety of charming knick-knacks. Mixing and matching floral patterns is a fun way to add complexity to your spring home look. Once you find your color palette of choice, enjoy picking the patterns that speak to you. Don’t worry if your selections aren’t “matchy-matchy”. Personally, I think that adds to the fun!
Spring pastels are the modest precursors to the vibrant shades of summer. When choosing the spring decor for my living room, I thought of what colors might might be featured if a room were to rise out of a newly blooming meadow. The ones that came to mind were sage greens, newborn pinks, and sky blues. This season is the best time to bring the outside in after the world has been in hibernation for so long!
The clouds have parted and the weather is warming! Let the sunshine in with beautiful gold items peppered throughout your home. The addition of gold adds a bit of sophistication and balances the playful elements of pastels and lace with its refined and elevated nature. I, personally, love how my gold vases and little bird figurines bring so much warmth into my space and gives a bit of oomph to the natural light coming into the room.
Whether you choose to lean into the quiet vitality of pastels or line your space with lace and linen, spring offers a variety of beautiful options when looking to celebrate the dawning of the season. If you decide to incorporate any of these five elements into your space, please let me know in the comments how you do it or tag me in your pictures on Instagram. Let’s celebrate together!
Cheers!
