Everyone has their go-to items they take with them on trips. Long gone are the days of security blankets and stuffed animals to provide comfort while away from home (at least I think those days are gone… no judgment here). Instead, I rely on a few key items that keep me organized and comfortable in a new place. Below are my Top Ten Travel Favorites that I take with me almost everywhere I go:
1. Monos Carry-On
Whether traveling across the street or across the world, this suitcase has been right by my side. It fits so much inside it and can really take a beating, which is what you want! Although my carry-on is white, I don’t recommend it as it is a pain to clean sometimes. It was, however, an engagement gift, so I look at the white fondly in remembrance of previous celebration.
2. Quilted Travel Bag
What I love about this bag is the shoe compartment at the bottom. Having smaller feet, I can pack a couple of pairs inside no problem, but if your feet are larger than a women’s 7.5, it is most likely that only one of your favorite pairs of shoes will fit comfortably. The bag also comes with a smaller bag that I use to put all my charging cables in. With its quilted texture and durable fabric, this travel bag is perfect sitting on top of your rolling suitcase.
3. Satin Eye Mask
I use this mask not just for travel but every day. It is soft on your skin and completely blocks out light which is helpful for fighting jet lag. The mask also has a deep cushion that doesn’t leave your eyes feeling claustrophobic. Long eyelashes and/or eyelash extensions are safe with this travel companion.
4. Airfly Audio Adapter
Ian and I brought Airfly Audio Adapters for our flight to Europe in September, and they were so helpful! The comfort of using your own headphones to listen to in-flight movies is much more preferable than trying to forcefully stuff the stiff, wired buds the airline provides into your head. Airfly Audio Adapters are true game changers when it comes to sustainable comfort all flight long!
5. Revlon Volumizer & 6. Hair Tools Travel Case
The Revlon Volumizer is a blowout in a brush. The movement and fluffy quality the tool gives my hair makes me feel like I am photo-worthy at any moment. The travel case from Amazon is strong enough to protect your clothes from the heat which is conducive for fast packing and is large enough to hold the Volumizer as well as other tools and accessories. Personally, I fill it with dry shampoo and hair clips whenever I travel.
7. Pill Organizer
This item is pretty straightforward, but I love the look and size of this pill organizer. I am a bit lactose-intolerant, so I don’t go anywhere without my Lactaid. (Cheese and creme brulee bring too much joy to my world.) Its neutral color is discreet, and its shape and size do not automatically wave the flags of a pill organizer like the typical long rectangles labeled with the days of the week do. A big thank you to Ashlan Pruitt for the recommendation!
8. Passport Holder
My husband and I bought these back in 2022 when Covid was still the monster under the bed of international travel. We needed to keep our passport close and our vaccination cards closer. These passport holders from Amazon have multiple places to hold documents and IDs and come in a variety of colors making it perfect for His and Her items.
9. Quilted Hanging Toiletry Bag
Another item I take everywhere is this quilted hanging toiletry bag. It holds my makeup, skincare, hair accessories, you name it. In my opinion, the best part about this bag is that it does not have to take up precious countertop space in the bathroom; you can hang it up on a shower rod or towel hook for easy access and optimal organization.
10. Packing Cubes
Packing cubes have become an absolute must while traveling. I hate sifting through all my belongings that I, of course, could not live without in an effort to find one article of clothing or a matching sock midst the compressed chaos of my suitcase. With packing cubes, I can section off my bag and know exactly which space I delegated my leisure wear versus my dinner attire. You can also bring an empty bag to use for dirty laundry, so you know exactly what is clean and what is not.
Cheers!
